'Wuthering Heights' goes for gold

The brilliant Andrea Arnold's latest film, a new adaptation of 'Wuthering Heights' is getting rave reviews at the moment after its first Venice-screening.

Hopefully I will have the time to write a summary about recent Oscary films and events (Venice, Telluride, ), but until then, I simply had to mention this new development. I couldn't be more excited for this film and I can't wait to hear MORE about it. Hopefully tomorrow it will be announced as one of the festival films of the BFI London Film Festival, because I will be there and I would LOVE to see this as soon as possible.

  1. Hi Phantom, I saw from an AD comment you left that you are going to the London FIlm Fest. That is quite an impressive list of films you are going to see. I plan on going to NYFF and I am in Toronto right now and my selections don't even compare to what you're going to be seeing.

So, I have some crazy questions for you:

    1) Are you a BFI member?
    2) Are you doing a postal booking?
    3) Do you already have a +1 you are ordering tickets for?

  2. I know that is coming out of left field. I am just throwing that out there. I was reading the website and saw that members can order 2 tickets on a postal booking starting 9/14. I know this sounds crazy. Probably not even possible. I guess I just have festival fever. That's all.

  3. Yep, I am a BFI member, I think I'll - try to - play it cool and wait for online booking (19th), there were tickets for everything that time last year and for now I don't have a +1, my brother will be in town for a few days, he wants to see Shame - HUGE Carey Mulligan-fan - and Wuthering Heights - semi-big Skins-fan - but I will try to talk him out of watching Shame, based on reviews that's not the kind of film you would want to watch with any family member, it would be uncomfortable as hell. Toronto + NYFF ? That's a great combination, too, basically covers LFF + My Week with Marilyn and Albert Nobbs. If you have the chance to see those two films, write me your take on them, Glenn Close and Michelle Williams have been "onpaperlocks, inrealitywhoknows" contenders basically since their films were announced, so I can't wait to hear how those pictures turned out in the end.

  6. P.S. I have Williams now as my #1 Oscar pick, as well as #1 Golden Globe (Comedy/Musical).
