He was the one whose very American way of showing three with his fingers, sealed his fate in Inglourious Basterds. He was also the standout and one of the two male leads of this year's critically acclaimed X-Men : First Class.
Hunger, Fish Tank, Jane Eyre, Inglourious Basterds, X-Men : First Class
We like him
because he is a brilliant actor (Hunger) with leading man-quality (X-Men : First Class)...and that's a rare combination, no wonder Hollywood took notice.
Little Known Fact
He played Stelios in 300.
2011...his career is exploding this year. Jane Eyre was an arthouse-hit, First Class was a critically acclaimed international hit and he still has a bunch of very promising films coming out this year.
What does his career need ?
Absolutely nothing...after Jane Eyre and the X-Men reboot, he is playing the lead in Cronenberg's latest (A Dangerous Method), and is also starring in Soderbergh's Haywire, not to mention his extremely promising reunion with his Hunger-director (Shame)...and all this in 2011. He has also signed on for Ridley Scott's Prometheus and an X-sequel seems inevitable, as well. Long story short : under the radar no more. A month ago ? Maybe. Today ? Definitely not. Magneto was a star-making-turn.
