SCI-FI / FANTASY

Harry Potter could kill in the technical categories this year and that would include costume, as well. Having said that, sci-fi-s are strong this year, mainly because two of them are also period pieces (X-Men : First Class, Captain America).
  1. Jany Temyme (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II)
  2. Penny Rose (Pirates of the Caribbean)
  3. Jeffrey Kurland and Anna B. Sheppard (Captain America)
  4. Sammy Sheldon (X-Men : First Class)
CONTEMPORARY

'Dragon Tattoo' could emerge as the one to beat but it could also be the kind of edgy thriller the Academy tends to ignore. Midnight in Paris might have a shot thanks to the time travelling storyline.
  1. Trish Summerville (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo)
  2. Sonia Grande (Midnight in Paris)
